Explore History at Monterey State Historic Park
Monterey State Historic Park is a beautiful place in the city of Monterey. The park itself was founded Spanish explorers and consists of a collection of significant historical houses and buildings that can be found throughout Old Monterey. The historical park stands to preserve places and objects that are of historical significance including 17 buildings, several residences and about its history with beautiful architecture.

The historic building includes California’s first theatre, and Monterey customs houses; a place where the American flag first hoisted over California. It maintains their rich heritage, preserving an important part of Californian as well as Spanish, Mexican, and American history. The Monterey State Historic Park displays the cultural diversity to create living history experiences and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970. The park also operates free tours of its gardens and historic buildings dating back to the 17th century.
