The National Steinbeck Center Monterey is located in Monterey County and was founded in 1983. This museum is a tribute to Nobel award winning author John Steinbeck, his hometown, and offers readings, workshops and speakers. It was opened to the public on June 27, 1998.  It focuses on activities to encourage learning about literature, human nature, history, farming, and the arts.

The National Steinbeck Center Monterey holds a unique setting for groups of 25-600 for meetings, tutorials, parties and special events.
